How do I set up automatic break subtractions?
Use the automatic break deduction feature to improve time-tracking discipline and ensure compliance with statutory break times
To encourage employees to be more disciplined about clocking in and out and to comply with legally required break times, you can automatically deduct any missing break time from their recorded hours. To do this, go to Company Settings and, under “Work Time Tracking,” select the option to enforce breaks.
If you select full subtraction, the break time is always deducted in full starting from the time it is required. If, on the other hand, you select floating subtraction, only the time that falls after the reference point is deducted.
Example: Your working time regulation stipulates that a 30-minute break is required after 6 hours of work.
Working time: 6:10 h
Result after full subtracting: 5:40 h working time
Result after floating subtracting: 6:00 h working time
Please note that this function is merely a guidance tool. The automatic break deduction does not record a break period. Therefore, during an audit, it would not be apparent when the employee took a break. To ensure this, the employee must independently record their breaks.
